The Chosen Ones

I found a link about a "photography getaway" from Amy Stein's blog about a month ago so I decided I would apply for the three month darkroom residency offered by The Camera Club Of New York. It was free so I gave it a shot.

I was rejected.

These four photographers were the chosen ones:

Santiago Mostyn

Wayne Liu

Brett Bell

and

Anthony Hamboussi (Nothing found from this guy)

Aaron Smith

Unknown Crailgrabber...Possibly Atlanta, GA In the Early Stages of Development?

Up and coming, Aaron Smith, is a student in Savannah. He worked as an intern with Transworld magazine (that must have been exciting) and that is how I made my way to his portfolio website.

He has some pretty "artsy" work. I am excited to see his skateboard photography since I recently bought some cheapo radio slaves for similar subjects. Very niiiice.

If you find the interview insightful yet not enough and you need more, check out his lecture from Ryerson University. Scroll down to find the streaming lecture.

Interview Magazine

© Ryan McGinley

I recently found a nice gem on the artworld's internet...Interview Magazine. Ryan McGinley offers an insightful documentation to what it takes to do what he does, logging the first 45 days of his past summer's trip in his diary.

Harmony Korine interviews Eggleston here.

All thanks to Horses Think.

Hackberry South Will Rise Again

Hackberry South is a Non-Profit, Non-Loss: Arts, Community Service & Storytelling Community headed up by ETSU alumni, Randall Green.

Check out the blog/website he recently brought to the world and maybe check out his article on Southern Icon, William Eggleston.

Also note that they are looking for entries:
Do you have something you'd like to tell? Well we're looking for a few good stories! Whether Personal, Prophetic, Sad, Cynical, or down right Outlandish, so long as it is yours to tell we'd like to hear it. Our focus is on(but no limited to) the stories created by living in or being a child of the South.
